Frequently Asked Questions
What to Expect During Your First Visit to Acupuncture?
To help prepare you for your first visit, here are a few things to guide you.
Before your visit:
Help us get to the root of your health. Please complete your online intake form at least 24 hours before your session. Providing these details in advance allows us to review your history and ensure your treatment is focused entirely on your specific wellness goals.
What should I wear to my acupuncture session?
Please wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to your elbows, knees, and feet. Depending on your treatment, points on the back or abdomen may also be used. If your clothing isn't easily adjustable, don't worry, we will provide you with a towel if you need to change for your session. Just let us know ahead of time.
What’s the best way to prepare for acupuncture?
Have a light meal and hydrate yourself earlier in the day. Sometimes you might feel the needles more when you are dehydrated.
Arriving to the office:
The front desk will check you in. We need a photo of your drivers license or ID card and will take a photo of you for your chart. Your first session is about an hour or more, so please use the bathroom after you check in with the front desk. We offer water to keep you hydrated so you can keep your canister in the car.
During your visit:
As you enter your treatment room, please remove your shoes and socks, roll up your sleeves and pants to your elbows and knees. Lie on the table and will be with you shortly. Relax and take a breather.

After reviewing the details on your intake form, we will ask some more questions regarding your primary health goal, and examining the body. Then we start your treatment which is customized for you using a variety of Chinese medical therapies, especially acupuncture. Other modalities include cupping, gua sha, ear seeds, and manual therapy which can be added as add-ons onto your base acupuncture treatment.

Chinese herbal consultation is included in your visits. Let us know if you are interested in creating a customized formula, ready to take home with you. Chinese herbal medicine helps to prolong your treatment and the best way to enhance your body between your sessions.
Other Frequently Asked Questions
What should I expect during acupuncture?
First, please let me know if you are sensitive or scared of needles so I can better prepare you. I can adjust to your comfort. You might feel a little poke or nothing at all. If you are on your menstrual cycle, you might experience more sensitivity.
Since this is your first time, the sensations of the needles may vary. I’m not going to lie, it might be a weird sensation. The sensation I am looking for you to experience is a dull, achy, moving, or buzzy sensation. Let me know if it’s poky or sharp so I can take it out. Everyone’s body is different and each time might be different too.

After all the points are set, sometimes you might feel like your whole body is floating, buzzing, muscle twitches, body flowing, see orbs of light, or maybe just relaxed.
How often should I book for acupuncture?
Most patients book weekly. Minimally, quarterly treatments is good for general wellness, and monthly visits are great as a guided as a check in for your body. Your frequency depends on your severity.

Trying to reach a health goal or have an issue? It will take longer. Of course, I would LOVE your treatment to help you after one visit so you can tell all your family and friends, but it really depends on your body’s response. Some take 1 treatment, others might be more.

Some patients might need to come in twice or even three times a week to see significant results. Generally, the longer the health issue, please commit to your treatment plan that I tell you to see results. I love to see results just as much as you do!!
Do you accept insurance?
We do not accept insurance or any processing; however, the front desk can provide you a receipt that includes billing coding for you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement. You will need out-of-network acupuncture coverage, so we recommend you to call and check with your insurance company. Certain insurance plans include acupuncture, manual therapy, or massage coverage for certain conditions.
